A memorable Giro d'Italia for Team Polti VisitMalta

Sella Farmaceutici experienced the most intense three weeks of the season as a sponsor: Team Polti VisitMalta's sixth Giro d'Italia ended in Rome with a haul of heart, legs and attacking spirit.

    Three weeks on the attack

From the very first stage the team interpreted the Giro with its most recognisable identity: going on the breakaway. Fifteen offensive moves over three weeks brought the team's jersey into the key moments of the race, from the flats to the high mountains.

In the big breakaway of stage 17, Mattia Bais and Alessandro Tonelli were among the protagonists, confirming the attitude of a squad that doesn't wait for the race but builds it.

Crescioli with the big names in the mountains

Ludovico Crescioli delivered his best performances on the climbs: a top-20 in the queen stage and a feisty 12th place in the final mountain stage, attacking when the race was being decided.

    The Rome finale

The last act, in the sprint of the closing stage in Rome, brought the greatest satisfaction: Giovanni Lonardi's second place — the perfect exclamation mark on a Giro lived on the front foot throughout.

    International cheering along the roads

On the hottest hairpins of the Giro, the warmth of the fans accompanied every metre of racing: flags, chants and symbolic pushes for a team that knew how to win the public over.

At the heart of the breakaway

Flat stages, mid-mountain, attacks from far out: the team's riders found their place in the most prestigious breakaways, helping to build the spectacle of this Giro.

    The season doesn't stop

With the Giro now behind us, the calendar remains packed. The coming weeks take the team onto Europe's toughest roads: 3 June Mercan'Tour Classic (France), 6 June Heistse Pijl (Belgium), 7 June Brussels Classic (Belgium), 10 June Circuit Franco-Belge (Belgium), 14 June Copenhagen Sprint (Denmark, UCI WorldTour), 17–21 June Tour of Slovenia, 18–20 June Route d'Occitanie (France), 21 June Andorra MoraBanc Clàssica.
