A CENTURY OF MILESTONES
The «Alla Madonna» Pharmacy
In the early 1920s, the «Alla Madonna» pharmacy in Schio was taken over by pharmacists Antonio Sella and Ulderico Aicardi. From the small galenical laboratory attached to the pharmacy, Dr. Sella registered the first medicinal specialties.
Magnesia Sella and Jodoferrarsenico
Pharmaceutical specialties join galenical preparations. Magnesia Sella marks the first step towards standardised and then industrial production by Laboratorio Farmaceutico A. Sella.
Gonfietti d'Orzo and the recovery
Dr. Gaetano Sella, son of the founder, brings a decisive turn: Gonfietti d'Orzo — balsamic sweets enriched with herbal extracts — become an iconic product of the post-war recovery.
The new plant
The laboratory moves from the historic centre to its current site at Via Vicenza 67 in Schio, marking full independence between the pharmacy and the new Laboratorio Chimico Farmaceutico A. Sella.
Bioton and the supplements revolution
Sella is among the first Italian companies to invest in food supplements. Bioton, Biolactine, AfterBite and Pasta di Hoffmann Sella are born — leaders of the Italian pharmaceutical market.
The fourth generation
Sella Farmaceutici, in the hands of the fourth generation, looks to the future: production departments compliant with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) are established and contract manufacturing for the global market begins.
100 years of Italian excellence

The new production facility is operational
Completed in 2026, the new building dedicated to the expansion of the Schio plant becomes operational. The new production area strengthens the Sella Laboratory’s capacity, continuing its commitment to innovation, quality and sustainability.
